Can an AGM be conducted by teleconference or videoconference?
Department of Education FAQs
The response to COVID-19 is changing every day. This information is current as at 27 March 2020 and responds to frequently asked by P&C associations in regard to conducting AGMs.
Can an AGM be conducted by teleconference or videoconference?
Yes. P&C AGMS may be held by teleconference, Skype, or some other webinar or electronic platform.
Is a secret ballot necessary for electing executive members?
No. There is no requirement for the election of executive members to occur by secret ballot. If the electronic platform being used for the meeting offers a secret ballot option, then the P&C must consider risks (for example where data is stored, privacy, validity of the ballot outcome) prior to using this function.
What happens if general P&C meetings are cancelled?
P&C meetings can be held by teleconference, Skype or other electronic platform. If circumstances arise that result in a meeting needing to be cancelled, business can be carried over to the next scheduled meeting.
